The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and other greenhouse gases emitted by a person, company, country or other entity, through the result of their energy and consumption activities.
This quantification is directly linked to the contribution of global warming, given that this phenomenon is related to the increase in the Earth's average temperature due to the increase in GHG levels in the atmosphere, mainly carbon dioxide, caused by human activity, such as the burning of fossil fuels.
If you don't know where to start to reduce your carbon footprint, we can help you! With small practices you can make a big difference. Check out Wewi's tips:
- Adopt energy efficiency practices at home and at work, such as using LED lamps and electronic devices with an A+ energy rating according to the Procel Seal;
- Reduce the use of private vehicles and opt for more sustainable means of transport , such as bicycles, public transport or carpooling;
- Choose locally sourced and sustainably farmed foods, avoiding excessive consumption of red meat and imported products;
- Invest in renewable energy sources , such as solar or wind, and support public policies that encourage the shift to a low-carbon economy;
- Choose companies that have carbon offset programs to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions generated by their activity.
