Carnaval Verde: Dicas da Wewi para ser um folião + sustentável

Green Carnival: Wewi's tips for being a more sustainable party-goer

Summer, fun and sustainability, is it possible to have a carnival with more sustainable attitudes? In addition to preserving the environment, a more conscious party also brings benefits to the communities involved, to future generations and, of course, to the party itself.

A sustainable carnival raises awareness about the importance of caring for the planet and nature. It also reduces negative environmental impact, which contributes to the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity.

If you don't know where to start, we can help you! With small practices you can make a big difference, check out Wewi's tips:

  • Choose aluminum cans over glass and plastic: Brazil holds the world record for collecting and recycling aluminum cans. In 2021, 98.7% of the cans sold throughout the country were reused. Consuming this material strengthens the most consolidated circular chain we have;
  • Say no to disposables, take your reusable cup and straw: In addition to reducing the amount of waste generated, using reusable cups helps reduce your carbon footprint and protect natural resources;
  • Trash belongs in the trash: Remember to bring a plastic bag from home to put all the trash you generate in, and don't forget to put it in a suitable place for collection;
  • Shine with bio glitter: Conventional glitter is made of plastic, and due to its micro size, after being removed in the bath, for example, it ends up harming and polluting the environment - especially rivers and seas;
  • Being sustainable is the new black, reuse costumes: The fashion industry is the second most polluting in the world and the most sustainable clothing is the one that already exists, try to reuse, adapt or borrow existing costumes;
  • Make your own eco-friendly confetti: If you are one of those people who can't do without confetti, a great alternative, in addition to using 100% biodegradable options like paper, is to make your own using dried leaves and a leaf punch; and
  • Use public transport or carpool: Reduce your carbon footprint by using public or shared transport instead of private vehicles, and remember: if you drink, don't drive!
